Inspired by 18th century oil-painted floorcloths, Floor Couture combines original hand-painted designs aided by computer technology which are printed on durable vinyl fabric. The result is a new hybrid product that can be used virtually anywhere without worry. 'The greatest benefit of Floor Couture rugs is that they can be used anywhere in a home or commercial environment', said Scott. 'Because of the way they are constructed, they are water/stain/scuff resistant, easy-to-clean, hypoallergenic,
skid-resistant and easily slid under doors and chairs.' She also noted that the floor coverings are ideal for radiant heat applications.

Floor Couture is a business that was years in the planning. This November, Floor Couture opened its exclusive on line store (http://www.floorcouture.com) with three original designs by Jacqueline Scott. 'I spent months creating just the right color schemes and pattern
combinations for our three introductory designs', she said. People can choose from the light, airy feel of the Provence, the rich, earthy colors of
the Nantucket, or the deep, Victorian look of the Mount Tabor. 'There is a design for everyone's taste and room decor', said Scott. 'And they are
ideal for virtually any room, like the foyer, kitchen, mudroom, bedroom, nursery, play room, or even under the high chair', she added.

An award-winning graphics designer with over 15 years of experience in corporate Communications, Scott was ready for a career change. 'Graphic
design and interior design go hand-in-hand', she said. 'They share many of the same trends in color, texture, patterns and styles. I wanted to break into the home furnishings market, and I was trying to think of a way to do that without taking such a gigantic leap from the graphics design business', she explained. She found that she had a natural talent for faux finishing and stenciled artwork that is now evident on the floors, walls, ceilings and cabinets of her antique home. Scott's 1840's Bridgewater, NJ farmhouse gives her much of the inspiration she needs, drawing more ideas from textile patterns, hand-painted tiles and any interesting flea market discoveries she comes across.
